Refining bias

As we live our lives, it’s easy to fall into a pattern of neglect. We might be able to rationalize neglect for self on the basis of having to allocate one’s time to something associated with values to which one aspires. Perhaps the continued struggle leads, ideally, to that which most benefits the self.

But that is still theory, and any moment whereupon your awareness allows you to realize your neglect of self is a moment where you must decide.
Is my suffering an arbitrary condition of reality? Or am I explicitly choosing to suffer?

The choice is likely an illusion.

To realize one’s neglect is to bring forth a conception of self which was harmed by you. You are aligning with a mode of being which expresses a desire for this at the moments when you are both aware of its potential, and aware of your participation in processes which potentiate it.

We’re liable to do it, but please don’t. You know that things can improve, therefore you can never prove that the suffering is arbitrary.

Reduce the suffering, and then those who relish it will at least have your precedent for something better.

If you must rationalize, be deliberate and useful
